Known as the \u201cthe Fourth Pyramid of Egypt,\u201d she shaped generations of listeners across the Arab world.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Through live music, listening sessions, and moderated conversations, visitors are invited to bring records, cassettes, CDs, digital formats, or personal objects they associate with Umm Kulthum. Together, participants will listen, remember, and discuss \u2013 personally, politically, and musically. Seated on Monobloc chairs, gathered around oilcloth-covered tables, with drinks from the local Sp\u00e4ti, self-brought food, and German-Arabic interpretation, a communal atmosphere emerges: a Right after graduating from high school, she left her grandmother&#8217;s old apartment across from a prison on the outskirts of the Ruhr region. She was the first of five siblings to complete a master&#8217;s degree in social sciences at Ruhr University Bochum.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>In her artistic work, she combines in-depth research with entertainment. She writes, acts, and directs dramatic and satirical productions. Her career has taken her to theaters such as the Volksb\u00fchne am Rosa-Luxemburg-Platz, the Ballhaus Ost, and the Juliusz S\u0142owacki Theater.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>As a presenter and Talkshow-Host, she combines knowledge transfer, critical analysis, and research with entertainment for conferences, political panels, and artist talks. Her professional focus is on art and cultural policy issues, on which she writes analyses and essays for think tanks, foundations, and associations. Leila draws much of her inspiration from the Golden Era of 90s hip-hop, with Missy Elliott being one of her greatest role models. More recently, she started rapping over reggae riddims and discovered a new, highly danceable side to her artistry. In 2013, he completed his studies in Jazz and Popular Music with a major in double bass at the University of Music and Performing Arts Mannheim. In the same year, he won the Audience Award at the Open Mind Competition of Baden-W\u00fcrttemberg\u2019s art and music universities with the project <em>Schattentrios<\/em>, which combines jazz, contemporary classical music, and electronic music.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>He subsequently continued his studies at the Institute for Music and Media at the Robert Schumann University in D\u00fcsseldorf, focusing on media composition, visual music, and classical music recording.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>In 2015, he travelled to the Opera Village in Burkina Faso, initiated by Christoph Schlingensief, with the project <em>Palanteeroo<\/em> to establish a recording studio and perform concerts in Ouagadougou with artists including Patrick Kabr\u00e9 and Tim Winsey. Concert tours with his electronic-acoustic trio <em>KUF<\/em> have taken him to the Czech Republic, Slovakia, Ukraine, France, Belgium, Luxembourg, Bulgaria, the United Kingdom, Japan, and South Korea. The trio has been invited to numerous international festivals, including the Moers Festival, the Shapes Festival in Norway, the KunstFestSpiele Herrenhausen in Hanover, and the Acusmatiq Festival in Italy. In 2018, <em>KUF<\/em> held an artist residency as part of the Paradise Air programme in Matsudo, Japan.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Since 2018, Valentin Link has worked closely with the Iranian singer Hani Mojtahedy and Berlin\u2019s Babylon Orchestra. Concert tours in collaboration with the Goethe-Institut have taken him to Iraq and Italy.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>In 2020, he founded the band <em>sink<\/em> together with singer Silvia Pf\u00e4ndner. In the same year, he joined the jazz\/post-rock\/minimalist quintet <em>Monoglot<\/em>. From an early stage, he developed a strong artistic focus on jazz and free improvisation, which continues to shape his work today.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Since studying at the Folkwang University of the Arts in Essen, he has become one of the notable figures in the European jazz and improvisation scene. A longstanding artistic collaboration connects him with free-jazz icon Gunter Hampel, with whom he has performed internationally and realized numerous intercultural projects.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>His musical explorations have taken him to countries including Morocco, Cuba, and Mali. He has collaborated with musicians from the Gnawa and Issawa traditions, with Tuareg musician Ahmed Ag Kaedi, and with Henry Taylor, son of Afrobeat legend Ebo Taylor. In 2018, he was invited by the Moers Festival to serve as musical director of the international project \u201cMarimba Madimba.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Alongside his concert activities, Oezsevim has contributed to theatre, radio drama, and film productions, including music recordings for the documentary <em>David Lynch: The Art Life<\/em>. For the festival, she developed the \u201cradical K\u2019s\u201d \u2013 radical cooperation, co-creation, and collaboration. With this guiding principle, she advocates for interdisciplinary approaches and resource sharing.
