The country needs new children. Smart, beautiful, productive children. As close to perfect as possible \u2013 to clean up the mess their parents left behind. They\u2019re supposed to save the future and keep the pension system afloat.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n\n\n\n

In Poulenc\u2019s musical theatre piece Les mamelles de Tir\u00e9sias<\/em>, Th\u00e9r\u00e8se rebels against the obsession with reproduction, opts out and calls for revolution. In this land of unlimited possibilities, Th\u00e9r\u00e8se can transform herself: her body is just a replaceable shell, allowing her to slip out of society\u2019s expectations. The job of repopulating the country is now left to a handful of men. But they\u2019re easily sidetracked \u2013 by absurd ideas, pointless bets, a pixelated penguin on Herrmannplatz and the unsolicited wisdom of Berlin\u2019s city pigeons.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
