The Neuköllner Oper is a place of intense encounter between different people and generations. Our life in Berlin and beyond, in a city and world that is diverse in many respects, is our material; and many young people are its protagonists. But they want to be found, that is: discovered, interested, supported and enabled to invent and present music theater in equally diverse, adequate formats. And so the Neuköllner Oper can look back on over 40 years of expertise in promoting and finding talent. Over the decades, we have developed a wide-ranging program with which we continually test new approaches in order to address and promote new target groups.
Berliner Opernpreis – composition
Since 1997, the Neuköllner Oper and GASAG have been linked by a collaboration that is unique in this form: they launched a composition competition that is now called comPOSITION.
Koproduction with Berlin University of the Arts
Musicals are created here, which are premiered together with the Musical/Show department at the University of the Arts.
Junge NKO
Founded in the summer of 2012 as “Young Ensemble” of the Neukölln Opera the Junge NKO develops its own musical theater productions around themes of current interest.
CuLtural Education
The Neuköllner Oper Kinder Klub (NOKK) invites children between the ages of 8 and 13 to make their own musical theater.
