Winfried Radeke

Winfried Radeke is a composer, conductor and director. From 1977 on he directed the Collegium Musicum of the Berlin Universities for many years as well as the Chorwerkstatt Berlin from 1991-2004. In 1977 he founded the Neuköllner Oper external link, of which he was artistic director for 30 years. His version of Viktor Ullmann’s opera “Der Kaiser von Atlantis” (1989) was the impetus for the founding of the association musica reanimata, on whose board he serves. Winfried Radeke has written 16 operas, three oratorios, a symphony, choral music and many songs and children’s songs, for which he also wrote the texts, as well as numerous arrangements. He directed three productions at the Halle Opera House.
He has been awarded the German Critics’ Prize and the Order of Merit of the Federal Republic of Germany, among others. Since 2006 he has been increasingly involved in the musica reanimata discussion concerts.
