“Ep” is the written form of a sign created by the deaf community in Warsaw that has no equivalent in spoken language. Its meaning can be vaguely described as “uncool, uncomfortable, strange, weird.” Ep is a piece about otherness (the “otherness” of contemporary new music is contrasted with the “otherness” of deaf culture) and about the feeling of alienation experienced by marginalized minorities in our society.
