NO risk NO fun
6 artists × 11 minutes = Studio 66!
To kick off the new season, Neuköllner Oper invites six solo artists and collectives who will appear in various productions during the 2025/26 season to present 11-minute miniature performances. These pieces offer insight into their artistic approaches – and a preview of what’s to come in the upcoming season.
Connection (HUNTER!) is part of the concept: the artists don’t create their miniatures in isolation. They spend a full week together at the Neuköllner Oper, developing their performances, supporting one another, engaging in spontaneous collaborations, and forming artistic links across disciplines and styles. The model for these etude-like creations is the Short Form Epics by the Centre for the Less Good Idea in Johannesburg. Founded by Bronwyn Lace and William Kentridge, the Centre has been exploring and experimenting with new artistic formats and practices alongside local artists since 2015.
Featured guest artists at Neuköllner Oper include South African composer, choreographer, and performer Nhlanhla Mahlangu (Centre for the Less Good Idea); Scottish composer and performer Genevieve Murphy; the Dutch performance collective Club Gewalt; Berlin-based non-binary artist and musician Anthony Hüseyin; performer and musician Mara Snip; and Peter Cora Frost, a well-known figure in both the Berlin chanson and performance scenes.
In English and German.
