As guest country, BAM! is dedicating itself this year to a nation that exerted decisive influence on the international theater avant-garde. This performance-oriented evening proves that theater in Poland has lost none of its rigor and intensity. Exploring the role of the body and the role of language from various angles, it also probes the limits of our understanding of music theater.
In a moving tour de force, WOYTEK ZIEMELSKI breaks down the boundaries between play and reality by entering into a dialogue with his own body—attempting to understand “how we can get along with each other.” – DOMINIKA WIAK‘s approach to her body is not one of such alienation, instead she confronts it as a medium of identification and liberation that remains necessary to find one’s own speech in the first place. RAFAL RITERSKI, who has another work on display in the festival, wrote the music for this piece.
