The arts are under increasing pressure. Not only financial and structural pressure, but also pressure to meet expectations: in a time of constantly growing global conflicts over ecology, war and displacement, distribution of power and wealth, the arts are expected to take a stand, open up new perspectives and offer utopian potential. How can these (self-imposed) demands be met? What can independent music theater contribute to these social issues? And must it always accept such measures?
