
Alexandra Liedtke was born in Dortmund and studied theater, film, and television studies as well as sociology at the Universities of Erlangen and Bochum. While still a student, she directed Theater unter Tage at the Schauspielhaus Bochum and today works consistently as a stage and opera director. She has directed productions at, among others, the Burgtheater Vienna, the Zurich Schauspielhaus, the Staatsschauspiel Karlsruhe, and the Schauspielhaus Bochum. She has a long-standing professional relationship with the Salzburger Landestheater and the Theater in der Josefstadt in Vienna. In the 2012 season, she made her debut as an opera director at the Salzburg Festival. Subsequent productions followed at the Mecklenburg State Theatre, Neue Oper Wien, Oper Kiel, Musiktheater Linz, the Bregenz Festival, and the Vienna State Opera. She also held a teaching position for acting at the University of Mozarteum. Since the 2026/27 season, Alexandra Liedtke has been leading the opera at the Salzburger Landestheater together with Katrin König.
