Hakan Savaş Mican

Born in Berlin in 1978 and raised in Turkey, Hakan Savaş Mican moved back to Berlin in 1997, where he graduated in architecture in 2004. He then studies directing at the German Film and Television Academy in Berlin. During his studies, Mican shoots feature films and documentaries for ARTE and RBB.

Since 2008, Mican has worked in theater, directing plays at the Thalia Theater, Staatstheater Mainz, Volkstheater Munich and, since 2013, as in-house director at Maxim Gorki Theater. He writes numerous plays such as The Visit, The Swans from the Slaughterhouse, Snow or The Season of Crabs.

BERLIN KARL-MARX-PLATZ is part of his city trilogy about Neukölln, Kreuzberg and Schöneberg, along with Berlin Oranienplatz and Berlin Kleistpark.
